where is the camera flash in my Nokia c3-00?

I am surprised that a site claims that the C3 has an LED flash!See http://www.knowyourmobile.com/nokia/nokiac3/c3userguides/702717/how_to_get_the_best_possible_results_from_the_nokia_c3s_camera.html. But the back of my C3 cellphone does not contain anything resembling a flash!

I think Nokia should differentiate the base model without camera flash from those with the flash feature, if indeed, there is a C3 model with flash!

The numbering scheme on the C3 is crazy! There is a different model with a different keyboard confusingly with the same product number code! C3 Touch and Type model with a 5 megapixel camera with flash! Here is a pic from the link:

Volume Control Setting

The C3 has no built-in volume control. But you can have quick access to its software control of the sound. By googling, the most convenient solution is in Fixya, Volume Control

Go to Menu/Settings/"My Shortcuts". change the "Left selection key" to Volume. Now whenever you want to change the volume, the control is easy to get at.

We can't really complain about the design decisions of Nokia on the relatively inexpensive C3. Let us learn to live with it, and maximize its use. For those who wants the ultimate, and can afford it, the iPhone 3g is best overall phone for daily ease of use.

Is there a zoom feature in the Nokia C3-00? Yes!

I know I can zoom on a photo when I view it with the Nokia C3.

What I only discovered right now is that you can also zoom (up to 4x digitally) your camera view while taking a picture
simply by pushing the top and bottom portions of the main navigation ring of the phone!

Try it. Am surprised about discovering this feature today. I dont think this info is in the skimpy leaflet which passes itself off as a manual.

How to post a photo as your Facebook status.

Jan. 21: Flash! There is a faster way to save photos in Gallery/Images where the C3 Facebook application looks for photos to upload: Please click on Fastest way...

I have rewritten the procedure.

You can only upload photos to Facebook from the Gallery/Images folder of the Applications menu of the C3. So here are the steps:

1. open the gallery from the Menu/Apps.
2. click on a photo album (subdirectory in gallery) which is different from gallery/Images! this is usually "NO NAME". The others are Images (where the FB app expects your photos to be in), Video clips,
Music Files, Themes, Graphics,Tones,Recordings,Received files.
3. select the photo
4. click on option
5. move to gallery/Images

Now that you have a photo in gallery/Images,
1. open your Facebook home page in the C3
2. You will be normally presented with the FB new status editor. Cancel to go to the FB menu page.
Select upload photo by selecting the camera icon from the choices given on the top: (messages, events, recent list, friend requests, camera). This will give you a popup menu asking to select Gallery or Camera.
3. Choose Gallery.
4. Select the photo.
5. Click on options, choose add Caption.
6. Click on share and you should be done.
Someday, one should be able to upload entire albums instead of a single photo!
We should expect this feature from Nokia.

Next time we will post pics. if only the C3 has a savescreen feature!

My Nokia C3 now has a Samsung ES30 companion!

I bought a Samsung ES30 camera yesterday and here is one pic (with a wrong date imprint :( ).
Will create a separate blog later for this camera. This may be the last of the convenience phones I will buy (5000K). Next year, hopefully by June, I will have either a Canon or a Nikon camera.

A 140Plus Photo album with the C3, I need a better camera!

Another album with the C3 camera, Wifi phone! I noticed that the colors are more saturated than what are seen by the eye. But since the photos are only for viewing pleasure, these are ok for awhile. Someday I will buy a DSLR phone but I want to take advantage of the portability of the digital phone cameras which come with a phone.

Here are some of the pics which the reader can access via the link December 9, 2010 album.

An album of sunset photos with the 2 Megapixel C3

Click on the link FB sunset album

Photos were taken with the NOkia C3, on December 7, 2010 along NLEX while inside van. (The Toyota van should have easy to slide windows!)

Here is one pic from the album.

NLEX sunset album.

Why are my movie shots only 5 seconds??!!

I was wondering why my movie shots in my C3 lasted only a tweeny 5 seconds??!

Luckily Ms. Ail Yen, a young student of mine, who has a Samsung phone, offered to take a look and in a few seconds demonstrated that

1. the short 5 seconds was only for SMS attached videos.
2. there is a setting that the running recoding time is only limited by the memory, in my case
8Gbytes. The phone indicated that one can create a 5 hour movie!

Thanks to Elaine! Here are the instructions to remove the short video recording times of the Nokia C3.

Jan. 30, 2011: Sorry, I recall I have posted the instructions here. Anyway to repeat:
Set the phone to movie taking mode.

Put the phone in camera shooting mode: either from Main menu > photo > camera or directly choosing the camera icon if presented with the opening screen.

Then press the right side of the selector navigation ring until the movie icon is hightlighted.
Or from Options> "Video Camera" when in camera mode.
Select Options> "Video clip length" and set to maximum available. (The other one is for MMS message).

Practice the steps before you shoot an important event. Thats a secret of professionals, to be always ready antime.
